Here are the first few steps you need to take:

1. Think of a good Web site address - This is the most important part. If your Web address is hard to remember then get another one. Try to keep it short and concise.
2. Focus on content and not design - Don't worry about what your site will look like. I know this is tough for the artist in all of us, but put that aside for now. Instead put your energy behind determining what your Web site will do. You will find that the design of the Web site will actually be driven by the content. For this reason, the design itself will change as you add more content to your site.
3. Use the tools provided with your hosting account - You'd be amazed at what you can get for the low monthly fee of your hosting account. Once your site is up, you'll find that creating a Web site is not much different than creating any piece of art.
